MS&W and Gay day

Maryland Sheep and Wool was awesome! Jody, Stella and I had a great time. We got there around 11:15 and less than 30 minutes later, we spotted Rachael and Bethany while we were standing in line to get hot dogs. Poor Rach! It must be very weird to hear someone calling your name and look but not see someone you know. I yelled- it's Christy and Jody! She broke out in a big Rachael smile and came right over with hugs. She is bubbly and smiley and chatty. She is gorgeous in person, even more than in her smiling blog pictures. She radiates Rachael-ness! We only chatted for a few and figured we'd catch up with them later since it was so easy to spot them. We didn't see them for the rest of the day though and silly me: I didn't take a picture!

I did buy yarn for socks (two pairs) and for the feather and fan scarf. There was an incredible amount of yarn there. Some of it was gorgeous. Some of it was crap and the vendors were just trying to get rid of it. We lucked out with some good looking yarn though. I bought pretty much what I thought I would. Jody and Stella surprised themselves with their restraint.

I've tried to upload pics but the utility does not seem to be working. But definitely tomorrow. You know why I am so excited to load pics...

Because I met Greta! And we took pics. And she was amazing. As wonderful as I expected her to be. She was as enthusiastic in person as she is in blogs and email. She was just as sweet as she could possibly be- sharing the good news about the college visit with Daughter Bird and laughing about the many trips she had made back to the parking lot with her purchases. We only chatted for a few minutes and I think the people around us thought we were crazy- hugging someone while saying "it's so great to meet you!" But it was the highlight of the day. It really was wonderful.

Greta and I left a message on Annie's cell phone letting her know that we had indeed found one another and telling her how much we wished she was there. If Annie had been at MS&W, there's no way I would have been able to just hug her and move on. No way! We'd have had to hang out all day!

Jody, Stella and I spotted some other bloggers but didn't get to talk to them. It was crowded and there are so many bloggers that it's tough to make friends with everyone so we just admired from afar and congratulated ourselves on our blogger spotting abilities.

Gay Day:
Today was SundayOUT! We had 10 Rosemont students over for brunch along with their advisor and our friend who works in admissions there. They had a nice time at the festival and we were glad to host them.

The weather cooperated really nicely. The rally was just what it should have been but I must admit that I was a bit bored. (Bad, cranky girl!) Michelle and I did get congratulated throughout the day on our 5 years together- couples registered and wore hearts on their shirts with # of years together. (Again, pictures tomorrow.) Our friend and biggest ally, Kelly, came with us as she always does to pride events. We always have a great time admiring dogs and babies and laughing at the ridiculous way some people dress.

R Family Vacations was there and one of the guys from Bravo's Gay Weddings was manning the booth- he and his partner own the company along with Rosie and Kelli O'Donnell. We chatted for a minute while I filled out a chance to win a vacation. I told him how beautiful I thought his wedding was and I asked him to please run a cruise that doesn't travel down the east coast because I really want to go on one of their cruises but Michelle does not want to cruise down the coast!

Overall, it's been a great weekend. I am about to settle in for a night of knitting. Michelle and I are going to watch Love Actually on DVD.

Only low point of the weekend: realizing I lost my ATM card, probably by leaving in the ATM machine at MS&W yesterday. Yuck! The card has been cancelled and a new one issued. What a dope!
