Michelle and I had a great weekend with friends. If you are interested in hearing about my weekend, I'm betting Michelle will post about it and include some pictures so check out her blog. I sat by the pool, floated around using a noodle, ate way too much, drank margeritas in the middle of the day, and laughed more than I have in ages. It was a really great weekend.
(Note: I hope I get my period today and can attribute the amount of weight I've gained this weekend on bloating. Because no one should gain that much weight in two days. It's just MEAN!)
Secret Pal:
I opened my Phillyknitters secret pal gift last night. Evelyn sent me this adorable hand knit purse:

The knitting is really well done. I checked out the construction of it and imagined the pattern and how the stitches came together. Why so technical? Beats me.
Anyway, the gift is darling. Thanks, Evelyn, for being a wonderful secret pal! Your packages always brightened my days and I think of you often and smile since gifts from you are scattered all over my office!
Circle of Friendship socks:
I sent my secret pal Sarah the completed Circle of Friendship Socks.

Details:
Pattern: Circle of Friendship
Source: Heartstrings Fiber Arts
Purchased from: Elann.com
Yarn: Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sock in Motherlode
Needles: Clover bamboo dpns, size 3
I love the fabric I got with the size 3 needles. I started on size 2s and the sock looked a smidge small. On the 3s, the LLs is stretchy and springy!
I really love the detailing on this sock. The foot has cables running between ribbing. The heel has ribbing running down from the interlocking circles.
This pattern was complex enough to hold my interest but had enough repetition that I worked on it while watching tv. Perfect balance!
I sent sock yarn, some dpns and a sock pattern with the gift. I hope Sarah learns to make socks and enjoys it as much as I do!

That purse rocks!!! I'm not a knitter but that's pretty damn impressive!
