When I wonder how much technology is too much technology, I'll remember this week and having to utter these words:
Specifically, the Roomba ate the cord that lets the Tivo change the channel on the cable box when it's time to record something on a different channel. Without that cord, the Tivo is useless if I'm not at home to change the channel. Which is like having a VCR without the option to set it to record something. Bah! (So Amy, to answer your comment on yesterday's post, no I didn't see my boyfriend Anderson Cooper on Oprah yesterday.)
We've lived like this for two days and I can't stand it anymore. I'm going to RadioShack today to try to get a replacement. If they don't have it (I can't find it on the website), I'm going to have to order it from Tivo's website (it's the IR control cable, $6.99). And then I'm going to have to WAIT for it to come in the MAIL! It's like torture.
Oh, and I forgot to make sure the cable box was on channel 6 this morning so now I have to go home on my lunch to make sure it will Tivo Elie Wiesel on Oprah today. Because I'm not missing that because of the damn Roomba (to which I am, sincerely, grateful because it means I don't have to vacuum. But seriously, Roomba, did you have to?).

I've been seriously considering getting a Roomba, but if it ate my TIVO cord...I'd shoot it!
TIVO has revolutionized my TV watching, so will Roomba revolutionize my housecleaning habits (or lack therof)?

Oh no! I have both of these machines, and thankfully this has not happened to us yet... so sorry it happened to you! At least it is not too expensive to replace!

"the Roomba ate the Tivo cord" was the funniest line I've read all day. Thanks for the laugh!

This cracks me up. I read this earlier today and then was flipping through a magazine, saw a journalist raving about the wonders of the Roomba, and thought again of yours eating the Tivo cord. Too funny!
