On Saturday, I started knitting a Moderne Baby Blanket using the pattern from the incredible Mason-Dixon Knitting book and Knitpicks Swish Superwash in three colors.
Michelle and I picked out the colors about a week ago and the yarn arrived on Friday. Michelle used her artist's eye to lay out the three colors in a pattern that calls for four.
I love the way that it is turning out. That's great because I need to finish two of these by the end of March. The original Curlicue baby is expecting twin siblings very soon. Their mother is one of Michelle's closest friends from college and she adores handmade gifts. The Curlicue baby (Ciara) uses her blanket often and I couldn't bear to not send blankies for the new babies. I'm going to make two of the same and knit (or crochet, I haven't decided) a different color border on each.

Very different, but very cool! Lucky babies!

I've been wanting to try one of these blankets since I got the book. I love the color choices. You really bring out the design. You sweater looks great on you and the socks are beautiful too! I'm always jealous of your knitting. (But not the snow)
