1993

The last time the Phillies went to the playoffs, mullets were in style. (Really, were they ever in style?)

After last night's amazing game (and yet another loss by the Mets), the Phillies are tied for first in the division. It's unbelievably exciting!

PS Very little knitting happening around here.

Phillies

I'm going to the Phillies game tonight. 1 game behind the Mets. 4 games left in the season!

I can't wait!

A very good day

Some things that are making me happy today:

  • I had a fabulous time at happy hour last night with my coworkers. Is it still happy hour at 11 pm? Because that's when I got home. I  love margaritas.
  • The Phillies are 1.5 games out of first place in the NL East. The Mets are in a bad slide from 1st. My mom is predicting that the Phils will win the division.
  • Michelle is coming home from a business trip today.
  • We're going to see Across the Universe this weekend.
  • I seem to finally have shaken my cold.
  • I just pre-ordered my Ravelry beta t-shirt. I so hope they come in by Rhinebeck. It'll be perfect for wearing with pajama pants in the cottage after the fest has ended. I will, of course, be wearing a handknit sweater to the fest (though probably not the aran one that I'm knitting now).
  • The Friday Night Lights season premiere is available for streaming on Yahoo. I watched it this morning. It is both wonderful and terrible all at the same time.
  • I'm getting together with a high school friend this weekend. I haven't seen her in over a year- she's in formation in religious life, having taken her first vows a few months ago. I can't believe that this girl who I talked about going into the convent with when we were 14 is actually doing just that. It's very cool.
  • It's a beautiful day in Philadelphia today.

Have a fabulous weekend.

Sick

Symptoms since Friday morning:

  • stuffy nose
  • sinus headache
  • sore throat
  • cough
  • fatigue
  • fever

Symptom that joined the list today:

  • intense itching on my arms, legs, and chest

What the hell? Probably some sort of allergy or sensitivity to the cold medicine or some combo of the cold meds and my everyday meds. Lovely.

About 20 minutes ago, through the window came wafting the scent of the new restaurant on our corner-- smoked meat. All meat, all the time from afternoon until bedtime. i have never wanted a restaurant to fail before this.

I'm going back to watching Friday Night Lights now.

I pray on this day, that we all have peace in our hearts.

If I made the time time blog...

I would blog about these things:

  • the joint birthday party for my nieces Abby and Evie was wonderful. Abby turned 2 and Evie is a few weeks away from being 3. They are both adorable and total princesses.
  • the mystery shawl with finished pictures. I was very tempted to wear it today with my black short sleeved top, gray pants, black heels. It's too damned hot here.
  • the Barry Manilow concert on Saturday night. It was a hoot, I tell ya. Both of my parents, my siblings, and I had a great time singing along. Our tickets cost $13. You can't beat that!
  • the Bruce Springsteen concert I bought tickets for on Saturday morning. I'll be at the second Philly show- the one on 10/6. After I see Bruce, there will only be two people/groups I've never seen in concert that I would really like to see-- U2 and Barbra Streisand. I have made my peace with the fact that I may never see Barbra if her most recent farewell tour was for keeps. You never know.
  • my love of watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer on DVD. For years, people have been telling me that I would love this show. Michelle and I are on the 3rd disc of season 2. We love it.
  • I'm at my highest weight ever. I need to lose 20-30 lbs, 20 just to be at a healthy weight for my height. I'm torn between wanting to go on Weight Watchers today and wanting to eat a pint of Ben & Jerry's Chocolate Brownie Ice Cream. Ya think that's how I got this way?
  • Rhinebeck is less than 6 weeks away. I knit a sleeve last week for an Aran sweater. Last night I started sleeve 2. I like knitting sleeves first. I'm weird that way.
  • I held my friend's baby, Rolo (or so we like to call him) for two hours last Thursday. It was likely the highlight of my week.

Too bad I never make time to blog anymore!
