Spin and Shuffle

Sounds like a dance craze, eh?

Update on spinning:

I can't do it. Maybe I'll be able to do it someday but I'm not getting it. Perhaps having an experienced spinner show me in person would be good. I don't think I know any spinners in person.

When I first started knitting, I practiced for hours. I knit, I ripped, I knit some more. Spinning seems too frustrating to me to do it for more than a few minutes at a time.

I have "balls" of wool now that are just twisted roving in various states of thickness. Most of it doesn't look remotely like yarn. Is it like this for everyone?

Shuffle:

I won an iPod Shuffle yesterday in a prize drawing at a work event. I'm thrilled. I made a playlist this morning and Michelle took care of charging it and registering it for me. I can't wait to walk to work listening to my tunes everyday.

Sometimes I win things. I'm lucky that way.

Have a great weekend.

Spring spinning

The weather has suddenly become beautiful and spring-like in Philadelphia. I spend my day counting down the minutes to lunch hour and the walk home just so I can bask in the sun.

It's only a few short weeks until Maryland Sheep & Wool. As I mentioned in the fall, I'd like to get a drop spindle and some roving (that's what it's called, right?) while I am there.

All you spinners out there, leave a comment with your favorite spinning site. It can be the blog of a spinner whose stuff you love, a site with a tutorial, or great sources for spinning supplies.

Michelle has expressed her concern about our limited amount of living space (about 600 square feet) and the lack of room for another hobby. I like to think of spinning and knitting as ONE hobby, thus subverting that argument. My reply thus far has been "just a spindle, no spinning wheel" and "I'll just need a little bit of stuff to spin yarn for scarves or socks or little projects."

Am I dreaming? Am I completely deluding myself?

Will I soon have bags of wool that will need to be washed and carded? Will I be learning to dye yarn next?

HELP!
